From Humble Beginnings to a Trusted Name

In 1978, Mark Middleton took a leap of faith. Working out of a two-car garage on Kelly Avenue in Joliet, he started Middleton Overhead Doors with a simple goal: to offer quality workmanship, honest service, and genuine care for every customer.

Word spread quickly. Neighbors told neighbors, and the little garage that started it all became the foundation for a thriving local business. By 1984, the growing company needed more space, and Mark moved operations to Jefferson Street. That same year, his father, Bill Middleton, joined the team to assist with sales—making the business officially a family affair.

Their shared values—hard work, integrity, and treating customers like family—became the backbone of the company. It wasn’t long before they outgrew Jefferson Street too, moving to Meadow Avenue in 1987, where we still proudly operate today.

A Legacy of Family and Community

The Middleton story didn’t stop there. In 1994, the company reached an exciting milestone: becoming an authorized distributor for Overhead Door™, one of the most recognized and respected brands in the industry. This partnership gave Middleton Overhead Doors the strength of a national network while allowing us to maintain the local, personal service that customers had come to love.

In 2001, Mark’s son, Matt Middleton, joined the business—continuing the family tradition and bringing fresh energy and innovation to a company deeply rooted in the community.

Today, our team is like family, too. Many of our employees have been with us for 20 years or more.
